@kstenio thanks for this submission. I am the AEiC on this track and here to help with the initial steps. I will be looking for a handling editor. For the moment can you check those potentially missing DOIs? You can amend your .bib file and rerun (in a clean comment here): @editorialbot generate pdf

Hello @Kevin-Mattheus-Moerman, thank you very much for the support in this review. I've already added the missing DOIs in the paper.bib file. Regarding potential reviewers, I've checked the recommended list and found some of them with repositories (and/or forks) with subject aligned to mine (spectroscopy): tillsten, ivergara and ksunden.

LIBSsa: an open source software for analyzing LIBS spectra https://github.com/openjournals/joss-reviews/issues/5805

JOSS is a free, open-source, community-driven and developer-friendly online journal. The review process is unique: it takes place in a GitHub issue, is open, and author-reviewer-editor conversations are encouraged.

JOSS reviews involve downloading and installing the software, and inspecting the repository and submitted paper for key elements. See https://joss.readthedocs.io/en/latest/review_criteria.html.

Thanks in advance!

domna commented 11 months ago

Yes, I can do a review.

csoneson commented 11 months ago

Thank you @domna! As soon as we have secured one more reviewer, I will open the review issue.

kstenio commented 11 months ago

Hi @domna, thank you very much for your availability to review this paper/software! And @csoneson, thank you very much for all the support so far! I hope we can find another reviewer soon. Best wishes to everyone.

Tillsten commented 11 months ago

Is there example data given? If so, I can try do a review

kstenio commented 11 months ago

Hi @Tillsten, thank you very much for your availability! Yes, I have some spectra/example data I can provide in order to test software usability. If it is OK for @csoneson, I can create a short lived branch (based on current "joss" branch) with compressed files.

csoneson commented 11 months ago

@kstenio - sure, that should work (unless the files are too big for GitHub). In general though, it would be good to have some small example data provided with the package, or somewhere else easily accessible, so that a new user could quickly test e.g. that their installation works and see what the output files would look like.

kstenio commented 11 months ago

Great @csoneson. I've created a new branch, joss_sample_data, and inside the folder data you will able to find the compressed (7z) sample spectra and some instructions.

Regarding the small data, I see no problems in including a minor sample set in the official repository.
