Note that the PDF of the paper has failed to build. Please have a look and, when you think you've fixed the issue, try to generate it again here by commenting @editorialbot generate pdf. I think the issue might be the [^*] footnote you've created for your email address, which is unnecessary in JOSS and can be removed.

Also, the paper is currently too long. As advised in our docs,

The paper should be between 250-1000 words. Authors submitting papers significantly longer than 1000 words may be asked to reduce the length of their paper.
