Self Help channels for projects (slack) #700

This came out of the discussion on https://github.com/nodejs/community-committee/issues/655 related to one of the slack channels.

This issue is to discuss:

Should there be a framework that projects can follow to provide info/help channels. For example should we have a hierarchy where project can opt into a self-help channel.
Should we have a common starting point (page or whatever) for where to get help with OpenJS projects

By channel, do you mean Slack/real-time chat channels, or any channels (for example nodejs/help or StackOverflow)?

Should we have a common starting point (page or whatever) for where to get help with OpenJS projects

A recommendation might work better since existing projects, as well as new projects joining the Foundation, might already have spaces to ask for help.

We were discussing slack, but I was thinking that something which has the references to things like nodejs/help would also be useful.
