Standards/Education & Onboarding Resources #1

Open jorydotcom opened 3 years ago

jorydotcom commented 3 years ago

Filing this issue to request time on our agenda to flesh out some ideas we've been incubating about this strategic direction.

Edit: Updating this issue to specifically call for favorite resources, online materials, books, how-tos, etc for learning about standardization

from our legal counsel, Gesmer Updegrove: https://www.consortiuminfo.org/guide/ has several sections which are really helpful.

I wrote this, which AFAIK is now included in TC39 onboarding materials: https://dev.to/bnb/my-first-experience-attending-tc39-bpn

Also, on reading spec text: I've found Ifeoma Imoh (@ifeoma-imoh) and her youtube channel particularly understandable in a way that I think is effectively missing in the ecosystem.

@bnb Thanks for the recommendation!! 😄

Jory asked for a few of the resources I made. A video will be out on specification and JS in about a month. For now there is the twitch stream: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPcHBzWXq1E&list=PLo3w8EB99pqJVPhmYbYdInBvAGarDavh-&index=1 ( I will be updating this with a more complete series)

While not a standards team, it might be a good idea to provide a link to WinterCG. The work they are doing is certainly related.
