Filter the list of treated areas only for such areas that are relevant #87

Open Jo-Schie opened 2 years ago

Jo-Schie commented 2 years ago

Background:

Not all treated areas have data from GFW (see also @yotaae NA analysis, see #84 ). Some of the conservation areas might be e.g. purely marine areas. We should think of reducing the list of PAs to such PAs where forest conservation is really at the core of the conservation effort. This information might be also derived from the internal project documentation.

Filtering out can be done when creating the matching frames by excluding specific areas via WDPA ID or by exclduign project via project numbers.

To do

Definition of done Irrelevant areas are filtered out which also reduces the number of NA's in the NA assessment.

@yotaae : Could you tell us how difficult it would be for you to find out for the list of projects for which forest conservation was relevant (e.g. by being mentioned in the project proposal or project summary) . You already had categorized variables from these documents so it may be rather quick, but please tell us.

@Jo-Schie and @yotaae Could you discuss if this is necessary to do after Johannes had his conversation with the consultant who potentially codes the different IUCN categories?
