This might be because all the options are set to hide the info from the author. However, even if I change the settings to allow some visibility . . . and click on the 'Update Individual View Option' . . .
the author still can't see that the review has been completed, and it states that access has not been granted (even after refreshing the session) . . .
Back again as the editor, if I change back to 'Hide from Author' but also tick the 'Allow Author to View' box . . .

From the Author's view the 'Date completed' field is still blank but I can now see the 'View Review' button . . .
and eventually I can see the review and the date the task was completed:
