Adds editorial commands and example.

Okay, I had to check that this works with (and without, etc.) footnotes. This is ready to be reviewed/merged.

Note that most of the earlier commits here were from latex feature branch (I mistakenly didn't create this one from master), but that subdirectory has been removed.

I think this will be great, but I have a few questions and requests. I'll see how to post them most efficiently ...

Oops, I was really drawn into something else. If I see correctly that this should be teady I'll look into it tonight.
