Closed cmbarton closed 2 years ago

Shorten name of group from Affiliated Early Career Scholars to just Early Career Scholars

Any individuals seeking to join the ECS ...

A minor request is to signpost what ECS refers to for clarity by including the acronym in the initial sentence, for example: "Individuals may request to become a member of the Open Modeling Foundation Early Career Scholars (ECS)"

But this is a minor suggestion.

EDIT: The title of the sub-section below should also remove reference to "Affiliated" as noted in the discussion for #413

Joining and Leaving the ~Affiliated~ Early Career Scholars

Joining and Leaving the ~Affiliated~ Early Career Scholars

This is due to history but still should be resolved. This group was originally a students group. At the organizational meeting in December, it was decided to expand it to an early-career scholars group. Because of the difficulty of defining what a non-student, early-career scholar is--especially in an international context--it was decided to leave this open initially to see who joined and perhaps if the members of the group could come up with a definition.

There is an open issue #401 where this can be discussed. After some discussion, we can propose a further amendment to define this (or explicitly leave it undefined).
