Why use this versus <other solution>? #9

The unique points I see to this project are:

Unless I am mistaken, it looks like this should just be a tool to export geonames data into a sqlite db that includes only stuff you need. I think a tool like that would be pretty cool.

Anyway I hope you don't take this the wrong way, I am just looking for the rationale behind starting yet another open countries/cities db?

No worries. Good question. Why another project? If another tool fits your needs better please use it. This project started with Sportbook/sport.db and I am going to reuse the countries, regions and cities for my beer.db project, thus, world.db was born. That's why it exists. Does anyone care or need yet another countries/cities db? I don't know. Cheers.

Well my point is simply that the data itself does not seem to have unique features compared to other projects, so why start over and not reuse existing sources?
