it would be useful to break the mainland coastline layer up into smaller bits for easier digestion, maybe no more than 1960 nodes each per polyline segment?
currently it is 81 large segments, Average: 4606 Max: 42700 vertices.
Really it just has to be the North Island, as I've already imported the South Island and Stewart Island from the V16 version of the dataset. The Antarctic is a bulk replace job, next to no merging needed there so you can work with big chunks of data quite efficiently & so fine as it is.
The NI will require lots of detailed regional merging though.
