There are many hardware issues and currently I can hardly fix them without having similar hardware at home. This is not economically viable.

The idea here is to write a program dedicated to test scanners and report as much information as possible.

Add a lot of traces in Pyinsane (mostly in the low-level parts)
Use python 3 trace module to get traces of Python code as detailed as possible
GUI to let the user enter informations and confirm that scanning worked as expected or not
Collect various infos (test program version, Pyinsane version, WIA infos, Sane infos, OS, 32/64bits, etc)
GUI to clearly show what will be sent
Send all the infos to a website ( https://openpaper.work/ ?)
Publish the infos so other projects can benefit from it (and even let them download the raw infos).

I think it's best to make a program dedicated to this task instead of including this feature in Paperwork. With a dedicated program, even people who don't use Paperwork can give a hand and run it too.

Note to myself: beware too of the drivers that remain stuck. We must be able to send the report anyway.
