To investigate the quarto error in eg #846 Usually the quarto message is a red herring and it is actually an error in the R code that is not shown.

Thanks @gravesti , and this then also closes #860 ? @Puzzled-Face is this ok? Or would it be better to isolate the quarto fix only?

I have no intention to merge this branch, just to help diagnose this issue
