"show/hide" buttons on newsitem list views - weird ajax problem

Go to a page w/ a list of NewsItems, eg http://demo.openblockproject.org/locations/zipcodes/02108/
Click "Hide" next to a schema name, eg "Local News"
Lists of that type of items collapse and button changes to "Show", as expected. AJAX request completes with 200 response code, all seems well.
About 5 seconds later, an alert pops up: "Whoops, we had a technical hiccup. Please try again in a bit."
Click OK and the alert goes away; button changes back to "Hide" but the collapsed list is not expanded.

See #115, but this seems to be a different issue.

(In [de9493f3a43206d181714403637e358dd5bc0a32]) Fixes #280: show/hide buttons: shorter timeout; don't accidentally call the error handler when setting it up; more consistent error handling; minor js syntax errors (probably was broken in IE)
