While doing some testing on the Route Adriatica v.1.2, Openrails activity runner crashes both in Explore Mode and in activities.

You are using a very outdated version of OpenRails. Please download a more recent version from http://openrails.org/experimental.html

It's a known problem, which is due to unusual definition of some signals. There are some signals which do not have any active signalhead, and this is something that ORTS cannot handle. There is a patch available for this route which converts these signals to static items, which solves the problem. I presume this route-patch is available on some Italian trainsim site, but I'm afraid I have no details.
