The list of open for submissions venues is becoming larger:

I create this issue to brainstorm about possible improvements.

I like the idea of showing an calendar and highlight the days with deadlines.

Another site we can get some inspiration from: https://aideadlin.es/?sub=ML,CV,NLP,RO,SP

The AI conference that you link to is pretty nice but is a pretty long list. Assuming that an AI researcher might be interested in any of these conferences, then the long list isn't such a problem and seeing them in order of submission due-date is the best default ordering.

In OR, we have a large variety of conferences where a visitor to the site might only be interested in a small number of them. I wonder if perhaps showing the active conferences alphabetically where something like ICLR is a top-level entry rather than having multiple ICLR items at top level. Clicking on a handle next to it would open it to reveal the various workshops, conferences, etc. At the top of the page there could be some controls to sort by submission deadline, conference date, city, country, etc. There could also be some filtering so one might select to include "machine learning" as a topic which would eliminate conferences about other topics (we'd need to tag conferences with keywords indicating the area of interest). Ultimately a hierarchical view, isn't a very spiffy looking UI though and I could see going with some kind of calendar that is easy to navigate and compress into different durations of time along with filtering for items of interest, but that's a much more complicated widget .

On the assumption that OR does fill up with a large variety of conferences I wonder if its worth writing some cookies that would save user preferences such as filters that would keep the views of things like conferences more customized so they don't see all the conferences every time they hit the home page. There could even be a "make this my OpenReview home page" button on a the main page of their conference so they always arrive there....

Adding Xukun here so he can suggest more ideas how to refactor the home page.
