expressing the fact that a person (or an organization) can be a subject of an information resource (book for example) #657

Scenario: how do we represent documents ABOUT a person in a VIVO instance as opposed to the usual documents BY that person? Is the property "featuredIn" enough to capture that information (let’s say a book is about that person)? This is the definition: “This relates a person to an information resource that contains a featured article on that person.” This does not cover the depth of the aboutness needed. The domain and range are not appropriate to express the aboutness.

Should we consider hasSubjectArea maybe? Again, we have the same issue with domain and range of this property not being appropriate.

Seems difficult. There are ugly ways to solve this -- allow the range to be unspecified, define the range as a union of a skos:Concept and foaf:Agent.

Whatever we do, Press Mentions are similar regardless of the media for the press mention -- video, document, social media, etc.

I guess, the answer of this question may reside in Linked Data for Libraries or BibFrame ontology.

What about the "is about" property from IAO? Looks to already be in both the ISF and VIVO core, has domain of Information Content Entity.

I took a look in vivo.owl and there it was. Works for me. Open range. Has subproperty "mentions" in case "is about" is too strong. Nice.
