A thesis is a publication with only the student related to it. The advising relation:

https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/VIVO/VIVO-ISF+1.6+relationship+diagrams%3A+Advising

Is the process that connects the student to the advisor. But it would be nice to have the thesis connected to the process somehow, right? Does something like a result of the process?

What do you guys think? More to come.

Muhammad Javed posted:

I am working on similar cases, where we need to connect Author, Contributor, Editor or Translator to the Output (Document).

Following is the draft diagram that I built few days back. This model creates a link between AdvisingRelationship (Where an :Advisee is supervised by an :Advisor) to the Authorship (Where a :Document is authored by an :Author). Shortcut properties (:author, :advisor) are also defined in the model.

(just a thought)

great! please definitely put these in the tracker. I think there are more general openRIF issues that we’d like to solve, rather than being specific to VIVO.

Javed, could you please assign this an impact -- I think its low -- looks like all the classes and properties needed are already in the ontology?
