https://issues.library.cornell.edu/browse/VIVOONT-452 Interest so far has focused on two areas: 1) being able to represent grants from NIH RePORTER, including RO1 grants that may be renewed with different local grant numbers over many years and also have sub projects and side projects 2) being able to represent training grants

Impact low.

Adding sub-types of grants (training grant, research grant, facilities grant, etc) would have no impact on the code, nor existing triples stores or queries as it is a simple "add" to the ontology.

Common local extensions should be analyzed and added to the VIVO ontology. Sites using such local extensions would then then need to update their triple stores and queries to use the new common VIVO grant types.
