Narayan Raum at UF requested consideration of adding support for conflict of interest (COI) information in VIVO. While this information has typically been confidential between an employee and employer, new mandates from OMB for public disclosure of certain "industry relationships" were announced at an NIH workshops that UF Division of Sponsored Research (DSR) recently attended.
Narayan sent an example from the Cleveland Clinic (scroll to the bottom of the page):

There are many questions about the form this data will take – this example seems to have narrative text as well as some kind of type information ("equity") as well as a list of the specific companies involved.
Note that before doing this we should check on work by the Jihad Obeid's group at the Medical University of South Carolina on an application for managing conflict of interest information that may include an ontology.
