SPS Paxlovid Drug Interactions #158

Open brianmackenna opened 2 years ago

brianmackenna commented 2 years ago

Related to #146 #147 The Specialist Pharmacy Service have produced a guide on drug interactions with Paxlovid. We are going to implement this in code and later on compare our SPC generate ones. The guidance is here

We need two BNF code list

  1. SPS - Paxlovid Interactions - do not use
  2. SPS - Paxlovid Interactions - caution

We should make this in BNF codes. If a BNF code does not exist please can we make a note for reference to later on?

These lists should then be converted to dm+d.

Consider risks and benefits codelist - notes

Notes on the inclusion/exclusion in this codelist are present here and copied below next to the drug entry in the list. Codelist saved as a draft here

Budesonide (inhaled, nasal spray) - codes in the Gastrointestinal chapter were excluded, codes in the Ear,Nose and Oropharynx (ENO), and Respiratory chapters were included.

'Contraception' as an interaction medicine - unsure how to include this. Combine with an existing list of contraception meds?

'Dexamphetamine' - this is not present with this spelling, it is present with the spelling 'dexamfetamine' - in OC this brings back dexamfetamine sulphate and lisdexamfetamine dimesylate. These haven't been included yet, @brianmackenna let me know if I should add these.

Fluticasone propionate (inhaled or nasal spray) - Skin chapter drugs excluded, drugs from Respiratory and ENO chapters included.

Illegal drugs - not sure how to include?

Ketoconazole - both skin and infection drug chapter results included

Methylprednisolone - endocrine and musculoskeletal + joint drug chapter results included

Viekirax (ombitasvir, paritaprevir and ritonavir) - included results from 'Viekirax', no additional search of the drugs in the brackets.

Drugs with no BNF code (not currently included in the codelist) Acalabrutinib Ceritinib Fostamatinib

These two codelists ('Caution' and 'Do Not Use') have been split out into the issues #170 and #171, respectively
