User Requirements I require codelists for diabetes medications. These are required so that I can generate appropriate aggregate data for external collaborators who are interested in the impact of GLP-1s being prescribed for weight loss given the limited supply of these drugs.
I am unable to create a codelist myself as I do not know about medications.
Here is what has been requested: Relevant products • GLP-1s (only) • insulin (only) • GLP-1 + insulin (Basal) co prescribing • GLP-1 + insulin (non Basal) co prescribing • GLP-1 + insulins combination product • Neither GLP - 1 nor insulin (dpp4_ inhibitors, metformin, pioglitazone, sglt_2_inhibitors, sulfonylureas, other medication, no medication).
To obtain the variable GLP-1 + insulin (Basal) co prescribing I will require a GLP-1 codelist and a insulin (Basal) codelist and then I can do the logical combination of the variables in my data definition.
For GLP-1 + insulin combination product, I thought this was 1 single medication, however I am now aware that combination insulin products exist and therefore this could mean GLP-1 + (combined insulin) co-prescribing, but I am unsure. Clinical advice would be appreciated. I am happy to email the externals and ask, but ideally I would like to propose a sensible interpretation of what they have written so require help from a clinical informatician.

Some codelists already exist for this project; what I (think I) specifically need help with is the insulin codelists and the GLP-1 codelists.
