**User Requirements*** The ISARIC COVID-19 case report form collects data on patients medical history. A detailed completion guide collects data on patients medical history. A planned ISARIC validation study requires a series of SNOMED CT codelists to replicate as closely as possible the details given in the ISARIC case report form. This codelist is designed to identify patients with active tuberculosis for which they are receiving treatment.

Coding system SNOMED CT

Sensitivity versus specificity / Relevant definitions Only patients patients currently receiving treatment for tuberculosis. The codelist should not capture latent tuberculosis.

Existing relevant codelists Nil existing refsets or OS codelists

Key search term -Disorder- Tuberculosis (14370 uses in 2022, highest usage of all TB terms) Organism Mycobacterium tuberculosis (there are many Mycobacterium which are not pathogenic bacteria for TB) Procedure Notification of tuberculosis (TB is a notifiable disease) Substance Codes reporting drug therapy for TB

Inclusion Criteria for Codes Active tuberculosis Positive finding for tuberculosis

Exclusion Criteria for Codes Latent TB Screening for TB Codes indicating a test has been completed Education or TB support BCG, complications Other Mycobacteria

Borderline cases Individual drugs listed with codes under anti-TB medications. Excluded as nil usage in 2022, and many are non-specific to TB.

Important limitations This codelist cannot itself determine whether someone is on active treatment because treatment is mostly prescribed in secondary care and secondly because patients will not have active TB removed from their record. It will need to be used as a diagnosis within a certain number of months of the index event in the study
