Hospitalised in prior year as a marker of recent ill health (yes/no OR none, 1, >1)?

Given that we will not have data on hospital admission, do we think it's still feasible to create a variable representing this (for example based on discharge information or similar) for use in the drug analyses? @ianjdouglas
