I have used the following tables/view from the DataLab BigQuery databases to generate medicines codelists that are in a format compliant with SnoMed/NHS Dictionary of Medicines and Devices which is the standard dictionary in use in TPP (and other systems). This is documentation that we may wish to record elsewhere (and @inglesp may wish to comment on accuracy).
hscic.presentation : This table contains the BNF codes where the presentation has appeared in the NHS BSA detailed prescribing information which is the underlying datasource of www.OpenPrescribing.net Note: for some studies (where we need to look for medicines used in hospitals) it may not be sufficient to use this table as the medicine may not have appeared in prescribing dataset.
measures.dmd_objs_with_form_route : This view is generated to power certain OpenPrescribing measures. It allows inclusion of route (e.g. inhaler, injections) which is useful for filtering for some studies.
dmd.vmp : This table conatins all medicines listed at a VMP level in the NHS dm+d. Note some medicines that appear here have a BNF code despite not appearing in hscic.presnetation.
dmd.amp : This table conatins all medicines listed at a AMP level in the NHS dm+d. Note some medicines that appear here have a BNF code despite not appearing in hscic.presnetation.
