Dear EU Sanctions Team,
We’re a data aggregator that combines sanctions watchlists from over 60 jurisdictions. In recent weeks, a significant number of our users and customers (mainly technology vendors in the transaction monitoring space) have expressed concern about recent developments regarding the disconnect between EU sanctions being imposed, and the availability of the entries in the consolidated XML list.
Our understanding is that in order to provide an up-to-date understanding of persons and companies designated by EU restrictive measures, we’ll have to manually transcribe entries from the Official Journal within an hour after publication in the future.
In order to best do this, perhaps you can assist us with the following questions:
- Does the EEAS or the Council offer an email update list (for press/media or industry data vendors) with timely updates about new restrictive measures? Our hope would be to be notified a few hours in advance about upcoming sanctions packages so that we can set up a reaction.
- Can you recommend a comprehensive set of search queries for the EUR-LEX search interface which would identify all relevant publications? Merely searching for the phrase “restrictive measures” or a combination of regulation names seems unsafe to do, given that new regimes can be established at any time.
- Are you planning any improvements regarding the consolidated list (XML) updates? Can you provide us any background on the procedural complexities which lead to the delay in implementation? Many thanks for your help.
