- Profiling existing performance to pinpoint areas of improvement
- Pagination
- Perhaps using a client-side search e.g. lunr.js
- Using streams instead of arrays (https://abdulapopoola.com/2015/11/29/understanding-and-using-streams-in-javascript/)
- Just designing the UI not to have that many list items
- the regex could be compiled and then applied (we build the regex each time at present)
- store the search value as a

Similar to #8, SCD files can have very large numbers of ExtRefs and a debounce is insufficient to provide adequate performance.
I would like to see the oscd-filtered-list carry out lazy indexing and perhaps show a light coloured "progress of index" background in the search field.
I'm not sure from a technology point of view how to implement this.
