Song format in prose books (e.g. The list of defeated kings in Joshua 12)? #28

MAPM uses OSIS table elements to markup the passages containing song format in prose books.

e.g. The list of defeated kings in Joshua 12:9-31

This topic is described in Column F: The Verse in Song Format (with table code)

Currently, this markup is not used in the WLC text used to make the OSMHB module. Is there any reason to not use this eventually?

I would say that the "one" in each part of the verse is set off by the cantillation. Given that, presentation is in the province of the ones using the XML, not in the storage format itself.

Not sure if you missed the point.

-In the OSHB module, there is no special XML to (e.g.) mark each "one" defeated king in Joshua 12. -In the MapM module, the special XML is present in the form of table, row and col elements.

If only some Hebrew cantillation marks off the "one" (king) in each of the verses 9-24, then how can a front-end render this differently, if (as I assume) the same cantillation is used elsewhere for other purposes?

NB. I've not yet studied the other passages that use Song Format.

I do understand the point. As I see it, though, the song format is only one possible way of presenting the information contained in the text.
In the English, the HCSB presents the table format, while the ESV has a running paragraph. There is nothing specifically in the text that calls for either interpretation. Of course, with automated presentation like SWORD, there are limitations. These could be handled by module makers, if they deem the distinction important.
