Analyze menu item is misleading #3764

Open ppitonak opened 6 years ago

ppitonak commented 6 years ago
  1. navigate to any space
joshuawilson commented 6 years ago

@openshiftio/uxd-team Can you please revisit this.

AdamJ commented 6 years ago

The navigation is currently being looked at and variations are making their way through the user testing. Updates will be shared as more information is available.

joshuawilson commented 6 years ago

but this is not exactly navigation as much as it is a feature toggle thing

AdamJ commented 6 years ago

@joshuawilson this is navigation. When a user owns a particular Space (or is a co-owner), they are shown the Settings icons first, and then Analyze. If they are not an owner of the Space, then they are shown Analyze first (Settings is omitted).

@ppitonak If I'm reading the description correctly, your recommendation/request is that the Analyze menu item either be renamed, replaced, or reordered so that it appears as the first item, no matter ownership level, since it is the default page that you land on when entering a Space - correct?

joshuawilson commented 6 years ago

oops, I was thinking of another issue I was just reading

ppitonak commented 6 years ago

@mindreeper2420 my recommendation is that the Analyze menu is reordered AND renamed

joshuawilson commented 6 years ago

The original intent was that tabs are verbs. And the first tab is for the dashboards where the users "analyzes" their space. With that in mind, we shouldn't move the dashboards but if you want to rename it, I'll leave that to UX and PM.

ppitonak commented 6 years ago

@joshuawilson I don't understand your comment about not moving it... what I mean is that most-used page should be first in menu, now we have settings on first position and I don't think that people will adjust space settings multiple times a day

joshuawilson commented 6 years ago

Ah, I understand now. I thought you were talking about moving the "analyze" tab.

catrobson commented 6 years ago

We're already looking into alternatives for the Settings tab as part of the new designs for teams, user permissions, and security groups within that settings area - https://github.com/openshiftio/openshift.io/issues/3652. 'Analyze' we'll consider as part of the navigation effort.
