Analyze Data: Centered Running Average. The label which I may have suggested says “(+/- window width)”. I think that is confusing. I’d delete the parenthesized text. However I want to make sure I know (and we make clear) what is happening. I think we want the Smoothing window of 9 years to be 9 years in the calculation (for the 5th of the 9 years you show the average of all 9), not 19 steps from -9 to +9. How is this calculated for a given year if the window is an even number. I am not sure this is defined. Do we want to force this to be odd? I think so.
