What is it?

As follow-on work from https://github.com/opensource-observer/oso/issues/1179

MetricFlow / Semantic Layer in dbt Cloud

Metricflow in dbt core was deprecated and considered legacy now. There is a new paid product in dbt Cloud (Team/Enterprise) that does semantic layer stuff.

This is a placeholder to consider trying it out in the future.

We kinda gave up on MetricFlow, but some form of metrics semantic layer would be very useful. Gonna repurpose the issue to broadly look for something semantic layer metrics.

According to David:

SQLMesh might be the winner here but still very green (played with it last month). They're working on integrating with Dagster though! other projects to keep an eye on are: https://www.sdf.com/ not sure how semantic layer-ish are going to go https://github.com/carbonfact/lea
