Summit 2018 Website #107

Open elioqoshi opened 6 years ago

elioqoshi commented 6 years ago

Hey folks, as discussed in our last call, I started with the OSD Summit website design. This is what I have right now:

web 1920 1

Please note that we will add more sections once the event is closer, but at this moment I thought it would be best to keep those sections (maybe not even the map yet as we haven't pinned the venue yet).

@AnXh3L0 will help with the implementation. Other help is also welcome!

Hi everyone, The mockup has been implemented and I have commented the location for the moment as it is not yet finalized. You can check the website here with live preview from my localhost: https://d73c4eb5.ngrok.io/summit/ (if you find this website down please ping me because it is online as long as my computer is on) or see the video below for a short preview. Looking good. From an usability perspective I think the Support action is more visible than Register, so this is something we could improve. Also there are some font-size inconsistencies, but in general I like it :) Good job.

Yup, I agree with @evalica's comment.

In terms of the user of this (i.e. potential attendees), I would suggest the information order (in order of importance) is:

  1. when
  2. where
  3. support

Just a suggestion: what might also be helpful (certainly for someone who is not familiar with international travel to Albania) is how to get to Tirana.

We need to get something quick up and running. Once we know the venue and the schedule (please help with that as well) we can include that as well.

@evalica Anxhelo is going to create a PR soon. Feel free to tweak it. This is a first draft and a big improvement over what we had last year.

Also some comments about the color would be appreciated as it's a first.

It’s good! I agree with @evalica’s comment too but that can indeed be changed later.

However, a bigger issue I see is that you can’t easily get from there to the main page, or the job board, or see other aspects of the site. I’d say we should use the main page navigation on top to properly integrate it into the site, like we did for https://opensourcedesign.net/summit/ (Cause it’s not a microsite, it’s part of our website.)

@AnXh3L0 is that doable?

elioqoshi commented 6 years ago

In fact @AnXh3L0 did that already, unlike my mockups. The header in his PR is the same as of the current OSD website.

First iteration committed by @AnXh3L0 in https://github.com/opensourcedesign/opensourcedesign.github.io/pull/179

jancborchardt commented 6 years ago

Should we close this as https://github.com/opensourcedesign/opensourcedesign.github.io/pull/179 has been merged? :)

evalica commented 6 years ago

Code of Conduct link still broken

AnXh3L0 commented 6 years ago

@evalica I have added the link to the CoC, we can merge the changes.

evalica commented 6 years ago

This can be closed. Thanks

evalica commented 6 years ago

I think the assignee should be AnXh3L0 since he did all the hard work :)

jancborchardt commented 6 years ago

Assignees are automatically removed when it’s closed I think, at least I did not do it manually. :) Assigned both Elio and Anxhelo for their design & development work. :)

elioqoshi commented 6 years ago

Why are we closing this? This is only the first draft. It's under continuous development and will undertake more changes.

Or should we rename this issue to first draft? Because that would mean opening other issues for new changes.
