User story

As a Bron user, I want a clear and intuitive start page that helps me quickly search for topics, discover new areas of interest, and access research tips, so that I can efficiently gather information and expand my investigations.

Acceptance criteria

  1. Search bar:

    • A prominent search bar placed at the top of the page allows users to input any research topic.
    • Recent or trending search topics are displayed as clickable buttons underneath the search bar (e.g., Windmolens in Eemshaven, Rijksbegroting 2024) to encourage quick exploration of popular or related topics.

  2. Quick Access to Existing Dossiers: A left-hand side panel lists the user’s active dossiers, with links to dive directly into their current investigations (e.g., Windmolens Eemshaven, Aardbevingsschade Groningen).

  3. Discover New Topics:

    • Below the search bar, users are presented with a section titled "Ontdek nieuwe onderwerpen" (Discover New Topics).
    • This section showcases curated or trending topics in the form of cards, encouraging users to explore new areas of interest.
    • Users can scroll horizontally through these topics, and clicking on a card starts a new search for that topic.
    • These topics are edited by Bron staff in a CMS (TBD).

  4. Research Tips & Guides:

    • A second section titled "Leer slim onderzoek doen" (Learn to do research the smart way) offers cards with tips or tutorials on using Bron effectively.
    • These can link to guides, blog posts, or video tutorials on topics such as how to set up effective alerts, using Boolean search operators, or finding relevant Woo-besluiten.
    • Users can navigate through this section to learn how to optimize their use of the platform.
