Keyboard does not connect after update to MacOS 14 Sonoma #1642

Open GHEMaier opened 10 months ago

Describe your issue

I use Plover 4.0.0 rc2. After updating to Sonoma th keyboard can no longer connect. in the log-file there is an exception "Enable access to assitive devices", howver Plover already IS activated.

Steps you've taken

What have you tried to do to get this to work?

  1. complete de-install / re-install of Plover
  2. deactivating / reactivating Plover in the assistive devices in "Dataprotection & Security" of systemsettings
  3. removing Plover from assistive devices in "Dataprotection & Security" of systemsettings
  4. removed all plugins

Expected behavior CMD-R should connect the keyboard to Plover so that I can start typing in steno. Also directly withein the Plover gui clicking the "Connect" button should initiate a connect ⇨ no change!

Do you have permissions enabled for the "env" app in security>accessability?

GHEMaier commented 10 months ago

I have enabled the permissions for Plover [image: Screenshot @.***

I do not know, what "env" app you mean. Can you please advise? Thx

I have tried both, giving '/usr/bin/env' security > accessibility rights and also removing them. nothing changed...

For what it's worth plover is also broken on my mac and I can't figure out how to fix it either.

Same exact issue.

Any update about this? At the moment it's not possible to use plover on macos

JeffLikesSteno commented 5 months ago

Sadly, no.

There is no "env" app under the "Privacy and Security" section on my mac. In my case, the keyboard is connected since the paper tape reports keys, but the app itself does not output any text to the computer.

I had the same issue after the latest system update. To get plover working I had to remove the Plover app from System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility using the - button and then add it back in. Simply toggling the permissions did not fix it.

This is actually called out in the MacOS installation guide. https://plover.wiki/index.php/Installation_Guide#If_you_had_previously_uninstalled_Plover_or_upgraded_your_system
