Hello,

on the user page (http://www.openstreetmap.org/user/) there are users "in the neighborhood.

For me, more than two third of the given users did never map anything and half of the remaining did their last mapping more than a year ago.

Frankly speaking, in the current way this function is quite useless. Maybe the users around someone should filtered if they did map anything. Or better - use the definition of an "active mapper" in the contributor terms and show only "active mappers".

Greetings Christian

Or, show the inactive users with, say, yellow marker, and those who never (yet) contributed anything with a light-gray marker. With the "activity" threshold being somewhere between 1/2 and 1 year (or user-definable).

Copying my statement from duplicate #4735:

With the growing number of users it would be a very nice-to-have on the OSM userpage to filter for only active mappers. Maybe with the help of a dropdown list to select "show only mappers active in the last $time". Having had this thought a long time this ticket was finally triggered by this forum entry since it seems I am not the only one longing for such a feature: http://forum.openstreetmap.org/viewtopic.php?id=19643
