HealthCondition - illness, injury, impairment etc

In our ideal data model we have the next fields:

Question How we have to sync it?

Looks like we can't resolve this to a code list like WHO-ICD-10, at least not now. It might be something we'd aim for in later work - semi-automated process of resolving descriptions of stuff (like health condition in this case) into structured data (WHO list of health conditions).

danfowler commented 9 years ago

@pwalsh @roll yeah, taking a look at the WHO-ICD-10 list, it would seem a non-straightforward task linking one to the other.

Another question: each HealthCareCondition starts with a code indicating one of "Major Illness", "Minor Illness", "State" (e.g. remission, chronic), "Stage" (e.g. early onset), and "Healthcare Problem" (e.g. "Epilepsy", "Employment" (?)). I wonder if those classifications should be added to the ideal model. Or maybe just free text?

pwalsh commented 9 years ago

@danfowler seems we might be able to extract that in a structured way?

danfowler commented 9 years ago

@pwalsh as an example of the syncing problem: "Epilepsy" is an example HealthCareCondition. In the WHO-ICD-10 list, it could be represented by "Epilepsy", "Other epilepsy", "Epilepsy, unspecified", or "Other generalized epilepsy and epileptic syndromes".

I've listed it here to ask like in the #16 issue. It's just 256 items - may be we will be able to clean (sync with ICD-10) it by hands on the next stage? @danfowler

danfowler commented 9 years ago

Yes, we can try to sync it. I just worry that there might be some amount of subjectivity here.
