Please use the following format for a ZIM creation request (and delete unnecessary information)

Recipe created https://farm.openzim.org/recipes/instructables.com_en_all I'll update the library link once ready

RavanJAltaie commented 2 months ago

@benoit74 the recipe succeeded, the resulted file is 100GB, but it doesn't open in my dev library, could you please check?

benoit74 commented 2 months ago

It does open in https://dev.library.kiwix.org/viewer#instructables.com_en_all_2024-08/ (did you waited long enough? loading a 100GB file might need some seconds to proceed)

Popolechien commented 2 months ago

Seems there are a lot of issues, simply comparing https://dev.library.kiwix.org/viewer#instructables.com_en_all_2024-08/www.instructables.com/Build-Your-Own-Underwater-Robot-V2/ with the source at https://www.instructables.com/Build-Your-Own-Underwater-Robot-V2/

Youtube videos seem to be missing, for starters. And then there's a weird layout issue with the images which is probably caused by the fact that they're packed into a click-to-view album (and more generally oversized).

I also get a lot of random behaviour that might be attributed to dev.library rather than the zim - same content appearing or giving an error as I reload.

Also before we proceed with bugfixes I'd like to know why we moved forward with a website that has © 2024 Autodesk, Inc on it without asking for permission? (I may have missed an email or something, just curious)

@Popolechien I've found this section in their website: Our Use of Your Content. By posting, providing, uploading, submitting, sharing, publishing, distributing, making available and/or allowing others to access or use Your Content to or through the Service, you grant to us and our affiliates a world-wide, royalty-free, fully paid-up, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, and fully sublicensable (through multiple tiers) right and license (but not the obligation) to reproduce, distribute, redistribute, modify, translate, adapt, prepare derivative works of, display, perform (each publicly or otherwise) and otherwise use all or part of Your Content, by any and all means and through any media and formats now known or hereafter discovered, but solely in connection with the Service and/or our business activities (such as, without limitation, for promoting and marketing the Service) and/or to comply with legal or technical requirements. Additionally, to the extent permitted under applicable law, you hereby waive and agree not to assert any and all rights that you may have under laws worldwide that concern “moral rights" or “droit moral," or similar rights, in connection with Your Content.

So all the content are uploaded by people who they give away their rights, same as Wikipedia. And the only remark and license mentioned was for their software, not content. I might be wrong, do you think we need to delete this? @Popolechien

Popolechien commented 1 month ago

There's someone at the WMF who said they'd introduce us to the Autodesk Foundation, so let's wait and see if/how this pans out.

So all the content are uploaded by people who they give away their rights, same as Wikipedia.

This is wrong interpretation IMO.

People uploading to instructables.com give away their rights to AutoDesk.

And then AutoDesk holds the copyright rights. And they can grant a license to use / reproduce, or not.

Wikipedia decided in-turn to mostly grant a free license to do whatever we want to "the world".

This is not the case of Autodesk AFAIK, at least I see no evidence of this here.

RavanJAltaie commented 1 month ago

@Popolechien what do you think? shall we delete this?

Popolechien commented 1 month ago

@RavanJAltaie Let us see what Autodesk says.
