Update ZIM: ubuntudoc.fr #261

Open letompouce opened 4 years ago

letompouce commented 4 years ago

Long story short, a GDPR-like request pointed me at th ubuntudoc-fr ZIM, which latest version is from 2015-12-15.

5 years in computer science shall be counted as dog-years, this is pretty outdated documentation. This package should be updated.

Thanks!

Yes our current doc is far too old.

kelson42 commented 4 years ago

We should create a script (and put it in Dockerfile) which would download the tarball, optimize the pictures and create the ZIM file using zimwriterfs.

Yes our current doc is far too old.

I hope you're not talking about your (Kiwix/openZIM) doc ; I was pointing at this offline Ubuntu doc, which is 20 dog-years old :-)

I will give a try with ZIMit 2.0

Here is the recipe https://farm.openzim.org/recipes/doc.ubuntu-fr.org, in testing

benoit74 commented 1 month ago

Canceled and disabled recipe, it is just not working

benoit74 commented 1 week ago

I've added an exclusion rule and requested recipe again

benoit74 commented 2 days ago

Exclusion rule was not correct, fixed and requested again. I've also updated/moved the custom CSS and favicon

ZIM file is ready in dev: https://dev.library.kiwix.org/#lang=fra&q=ubuntu

OK for me, @Popolechien can you please review it as well? Thanks

Popolechien commented 1 day ago

Works, except for the prominently displayed blue links which happen to be external. Any way we can hide/disable them?

benoit74 commented 1 day ago

We can hide them easily yes. But there are plenty, and hiding them is going to hide all of them, and in some cases this is going to be ugly.

See e.g. section 4 of https://dev.library.kiwix.org/content/doc.ubuntu-fr.org_fr_all_2024-11/doc.ubuntu-fr.org/debutant

If we hide those links, then the phrase loose all its meaning.

This works "as designed at the source".
