Some fields in the config file like Status, were string variables in 1.11.x, but in 1.12.x it was changed to boolean. So when the user upgrades the WDE to 1.12.x, the config will not be read correctly and custom values in the config will be deleted. Due to this issue, the users will have to set the custom values like tun IP/mask, loglevel etc after upgrading to 1.12.x.
