Name check #9

This is a non-technical issue, I talked with @durandom about it and he suggested I open an issue and see what everyone would prefer.

There is a possibility the phrase "The Hitchhiker's Guide to ..." may be too close to a protected trademark to use in a project name. We would need to run a check to be sure.

Would you like me to initiate the check for conflicts with existing marks? It could take a few weeks or longer.

Alternately, you can consider changing the project and repository name.

If you choose to change the name, it's a good practice is to check any names for potential conflict. This step is included in the new project checklist in the Open Source Way; perhaps we could fork it and cut it down to just what we need for new Operate First community projects? I opened an issue in the Community Handbook to add this content, as the natural home for that documentation.

Hey @quaid ! Sure, can you please go ahead and check it for us then? We don't insist on this name by any means though, we just needed a quick name that can be recognized. I actually think at some point this repo can merge with community-handbook repo as well.

I don't expect this name to be a big problem though. It seems to be used as a popular name for this particular purpose across many projects: https://github.com/search?q=hitchhikers+guide&type=repositories

I dont think it's trademarked. This O'reilly Hitchhikers Guide to Python doesn't contain any trademark acknowledgments.

Some thoughts:

I don't think this is an issue as so many other repos/publications are using it + based on the links above even the Disney's and Mr. Douglas's trade marks are expired by now:

We can close this ticket.
