I recently setup an external VPN (Proton VPN) by following the selective routing guide here. Though the steps are easy to follow, I find that I don't understand why some of the steps are needed. Especially the routing and the outbound NAT steps as well as the optional kill switch rule. In my opinion this is something that a novice user might want to do when installing OPNsense and some handholding would go a long way for such cases.

I would like to see some text that explains why each of the steps are there.
Describe alternatives you considered
It could be that the developers have a different opinion and that the user should be responsible for understanding what it all means.
