The goal of this PR is to make Java major detection more solid.

Early access builds have the following pattern MAJOR-ea (typically 11-ea).

I was unable to log in on your issue tracker to create a JIRA and affect it to the commit message, is it open to external contributors?

@ffang thanks! Yes, unfortunately, it does not seem to work if I reuse an email address I use for my other Atlassian account. It says my account is not authorized to access your bugtracker.

Hi @ANierbeck,

Any idea how OPS4J jira in Atlassian works in terms of authorization? I suppose everyone should be able to raise a jira ticket.

actually I just needed to invite the user. @gsmet ... welcome aboard, you now have access to the jira
