4.0.5/bug: suggestions provided from the wrong server #226

Open adamkerz opened 10 months ago

adamkerz commented 10 months ago

Win: Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3570) TB: 115.3.2 (64-bit) Nostalgy: 4.0.5

Settings: image

When I change from server A Inbox to server B Inbox, I still only get suggestions from folders on server A. After opening and closing Thunderbird a few times, I cannot consistently predict what server suggestions will be given from. I tested to see if it was the first server that I was on when pressing 's', I tested to see if it was the server that was selected when Thunderbird opened, I tested to see if un-setting then re-setting "restrict completion to current server" would change it. Nothing was consistent. Over the last day or two, I THINK I recall it being stuck on server A and then, just on its own, changing to server B, but I can't be sure.

opto commented 10 months ago

did that also happen on 102? That code has not been changed

opto commented 10 months ago

workaround: put the servers into different tabs

adamkerz commented 10 months ago

TB102? No - I'm sure I would have noticed because I swap between servers all day and it's very obvious now.

Thanks for the workaround, that's a cool tip I didn't know about - having a different tab for each server is NICE!

I also see this behavior occasionally (with 4.0.10), my workaround so far is to open Tools / Nostalgy++ and close it again. Not sure if this may be related or not. Sometimes also the destination folder based on the rule is not displayed and so shift-s does not work. Sometimes it helps to select another email with cursor up/down and/or mouse, but may need multiple tries.

PS: The feature to put servers in different tabs is available since a long time, but I do not like it, as in the end still the folder tree from both/all servers are visible and the tab bar is also stealing real estate on the screen.

I do not know how you are also recognizing this, but for me TB115 sometimes behaves quite sluggish. Not sure if this is just TB itself or in combination with Nostalgy++ (and the ~260 rules I have added).

opto commented 10 months ago

how about 4.1? (also submitted to ATN). I think that solves this

opto commented 10 months ago

@fabianwenk sluggish: could be the rules? Do you have set that it takes suggestions from the TB conversation the mail sits in? That could also make it sluggish, can be switched off in options

fabianwenk commented 10 months ago

@opto for me the original problem of this report seems to be fixed with 4.1.0, have not seen that problem again. And related to sluggish, yes I had "Suggest folder of related conversation" activated, now it is off.

opto commented 10 months ago

yes, there was a bug which I fixed in the new version

adamkerz commented 10 months ago

I just tested 4.1.0 - WFM. But I also love the use of separate tabs for separate servers, so thanks for letting me know about that!

I would close this issue now, but leave it up to @opto in case he has a different process.
