4.0.6 does not work at all on Ubuntu #229

Hello, I just saw the post by Klaus and installed at once the 4.0.6 release on my Linux Ubuntu computer : I set "q" as the save letter (german or French keyboard), I tested on an email, I saw an suggestion but upon hitting "q" I did not get an input box, but the email just disappeared. After some searching I found it in a local folder that I haven't used for a long time. And from then onwards, it hasn't worked at all, I see the help button, and for some emails a suggestion, but when hitting "q" (I have also tried "y"), just nothing happens (even though the help button tool tip does show that q (or y) was the correct letter. I haven't managed to make it work at all. I'm not using any other plugins, no filtering on the folder or any other fancy thing, plain installation. Any ideas ?

Oliver TB 115.3.1 Ubuntu 20.05.6 LTS

After deinstalling and reinstalling Nostalgy I got the input box back again. However it seems that any folder will work once for moving an email and then stop. And it also seems that when using the suggestion to move the email (shift + X), the email does not necessarily go to the suggestion, but to some different folder. And then it also seems once I had opened the find window (ctrl+shift+F; I needed to find a disappeared email ;-), the input box disappeared again, even stopping and restarting TB does not solve this, probably only deinstalling and reinstalling Nostalgy

Hi,

4.07 did install correctly on my linux system, it is showing the correct suggestion but the shift-s is not working.

Running 22.04 jammy (bookworm/ sid) with Thunderbird 115.3.1 (64-bit)

I reverted back to 4.05, all i use is the rules and the shift-s.

@RobertKorteweg : which OS? anything in error console?

RobertKorteweg commented 10 months ago

@opto Linux Ubunbu 22.04 jammy (bookworm/ sid) with Thunderbird 115.3.1 (64-bit)

In console: WebExtensions: in impl: isMailTab false implementation.js:19 isMailTab false false manage_emails.jsm:202:15

Hope that helps.

Hello Klaus, thanks for having tested on Ubuntu and produced a new version, unfortunately the result does not change for me : just after installing the 4.0.7 version it did work once (unsing "x" in stead of "s") to move an email from an IMAP inbox to a local folder. Then it stopped working : as first I could still see the inputbox, I could chose a folder, but upon hitting ENTER, nothing happens. After stopping and restarting TB, I do not even see the inputbox anymore, after hitting "x". I still see suggestions for the emails for which the system does have suggestions, but nothing happes for SHIFT+x and also no input box for "x". Rebooting the computer does not help at all. Still TB 115.3.1 Ubuntu 20.05.6 LTS, no other plugins active.

Just installed version 4.0.10 : it is a bit better : the input box works all the time, but moving emails works three to four times and then just nothing happens upon hitting ENTER. After a restart of TB it will work again three to four times.....

Olifair commented 10 months ago

actually, as mentioned in another thread I think, I can get it to move emails again by opening an email in another tab and then switching back to the three pane window. Every three or four emails I need to do this switch of tabs, but it seems to always work.

4.0.12 works on Ubunto 20.04

it's been moving by suggestion 8 times, then I stopped. I made two rules for one email, one a to b, another b to a, so I can do fast testing.

On folder change, it needs a fresh select, maybe first select the wrong mesage, then the right one
