I believe this is a question, check
how to manage opengrok 1.1 with new wrappers.
Strictly said, you do not need any binaries to run Java application besides
the java
binary itself.
All the other scripts are auxiliary and as @tulinkry said it depends on your usage model if you actually could benefit from using them.
