Enhancement: Chromecast to respond to HDMI CEC Deck Control events #93

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Requesting that additional HDMI CEC features be enabled to permit use of Deck
Control buttons (play, pause, stop, rewind, forward) within Chromecast playback
on HDMI CEC enabled systems (SimpLink, etc.).

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

  FW 13300 with Android 4.2.2

Please provide any additional information below.

I've got a LG 42LS560S and a Chromecast with firmware 27946. The LG tv-set
understands CEC (or Simplink in the LG naming universe). Together with OpenELEC
and a Raspberry Pi I use the tv remote to control the kodi mediacenter. But the
chromecast is still a no go, even though the firmware is up to date. The LG
doesn't detect the Chromecast as a CEC device and so even play/pause with
YouTube or other google apps doesn't work. Other users with LG tvs report the
same problem, so I guess there's a incompatibility between LG tvs and
Chromecast.

@gamer8ma... Try to choose the CEC input: Get your tv remote, hit the input
button and the top right and after that the red button on the bottom of your
remote. This should open the simplink settings (i guess your LG LM611S uses the
same remote than my LG 42LS560S). In this dialog you can en-/disable simplink
and choose from which device the tv should listen to cec signals.

Works like a charm. Nice to see right way to develope cc.

But Im not happy, until next-previous commands work when casting playlist :) It
also should control tv volume. After these I give 5 stars for cec capability.

I hope you are still working for these. Anyway, nice work so far...

I don't understand why you would need CEC controls for TV volume? Doesn't
your TV remote already control the volume on the TV?

Yes. But when I start casting, TV volume is something random how it was last
time when I shut down it. Cec idea is that all remote controls (TV, audio
system...) controls same device.

This way I dont need to find TV remote to set volume Level. I can do it from
any device I have. Thats idea of cec.

Doesn't work with my Samsung TV of 2010 year model, though Chromecast is listed
as a Anynet+ CEC device. Only auto turning on is working. What's wrong with
supporting Samsung's CEC? Please, investigate and give a solution.

I also cannot get it to work with my 2010 model Samsung TV. Like person above,
Chromecast is listed as Anynet+ CEC device, but play/pause does not work.

No dedicated button for pause on sony bravia remote
(http://cdn3.volusion.com/zndvw.myvdj/v/vspfiles/photos/S20008_RC-2.jpg). Would
be great if play button can pause/unpause as for other devices.

If play/pause CEC controls are not working for your TV, please submit a
feedback report after casting and pressing the remote's buttons.
https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/3187017?hl=en
Make sure to prefix the report with the issue number, e.g. "Issue 93 HDMI CEC".

I submitted feedback using the Android app after opening Netflix and pressing
Play/Pause/Stop on my TV Remote. I included "Issue 93 HDMI CEC" as the first
line of the report. Thanks!
