Touchpad keeps being deactivated

Hi! I installed the extension (today), and I'm facing the same issue as described in #34. Tried to check the "PS/2" line but no luck... What I'm using:

ubuntu 13.10 fresh install (not an upgrade)
Gnome shell: 3.8.4
touchpad-indicator: v20
external mouse: Microsoft Microsoft 3-Button Mouse with IntelliEye (it's an usb wired mouse)
touchpad: AlpsPS/2 ALPS GlidePoint The symptom is that when the external mouse is unplugged, touchpad is not re-activated. The debbuging pane shows devices correctly detected. What is wrong here ? How can I solve this ? Many thanks in advance for your help !

First: I stop the development of this extension, because I've no longer been using gnome shell.

Have you tried the version from github? Are there any other devices, like a remote control or a second mouse which prevent the touchpad to become enabled again? If nothing helps: Enable logging and post the parts of the log where you plug and unplug your external mouse. Perhaps I could find the issue.
