UI showing 0 peers even though peers are connected and can chat #229

Something, somewhere broke and the peer counter in the UI (channel's bottom-right corner) now always shows 0 peers even thought the peers are connected and they can exchange message normally.

I reckon this is an easy fix.

This has been fixed but not PRed yet.
