Energy efficieny for battery powered devices e.x Smartphone #97

I would like to discuss the energy efficiency of the orbit protocol.

  1. Does one only need one open permanent connection to the ipfs network for orbit to work?

  2. Should one need multiples connections and need to reconnect all the time, the battery of devices would drain very fast. Moreover it would use more bandwidth.

Only problem which comes to mind with content based vs location based, which holds back orbit from replacing popular chat System and protocols in the long run.

I speak of non particular devices as for IOT it would be very useful to be energy efficient as well. Please tell me right away if this issue is out of place.
