@JacobYLiu posted in #dev-general 12:51 PM I was taking a look at a few SNS options and OneSignal might look feasible. Since AWS SNS is a pay-as-you-go service, it is hard to know the exact pricing as requests from users vary each month.
Has there been anymore discussion or decisions made on the technology to be used for additional notifications?
The design team has come up with several ideas for how to present the content to subscribers but we have run into conflicting resources about the technical limitations such as character limits and links, which seems may be dependent upon the specific technology used. For example, I have seen three different character limits for SMS messages. Another article lists a much fourth (much higher limit) but states that they would really be several messages stitched together which would be nice for longer messages but could potentially really add to the cost depending on what solution is used and the sending limits.
@saraloup
Good questions to ask Skander.
we have discussed this with browser notifications and/or leveraging AWS SNS for emails. We did not plan SMS notifications as far as I remember, but we can have a quick sync around that.
