Feature Request: Compatibility with Reader View

I love this extension but it doesn't work in Reader View, and I think it would be amazing if it could. What would be needed for that to work?

P.S: I seriously love this simple extension. I have severe ADHD and a reading ruler is a simple technique that makes reading easier for me. I'm more likely to finish reading an article with it, so again: thank you!

Thanks for the kind words, and I'm glad the extension is giving you a good service!

I'd love for the extension to work in reader view. It makes perfect sense -- an extension for making reading easier would be at home in a mode dedicated for reading.

But, as far as, I can tell, Firefox refuses to run extensions inside its reader view. I tried a number of things, but it comes down to the Firefox reading mode being implemented with an about:reader?url=... URL, which appears to disable all extensions.

I'd love to be proven wrong -- if anyone reading this has an idea how to get around the about:reader limit, I'd love to try it out. Or, if you know of another extension that does work inside the reader view, I can try and poke around and see if I can learn something.

Adding some research notes for tracking:

• Firefox enhancement request 1371786 - Allow content scripts on reader mode pages will have to be addressed for Reading Ruler to work in reader mode. Reading Ruler depends on its content script to render the ruler. As of this writing, 1371786 is 5 years old, but is still seeing a somewhat active discussion.
• The implementation of 1371786 appears to depend on Firefox bug 1204818 - Move readerized content into a sandboxed iframe. 1204818 is 7 years old, As of this writing, it appears to have been assigned to a developer, and may be making forward progress.

Partial alternative: Reading Ruler does work with https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/focus-to-read. "Focus To Read" is not automatic, but it can help if the content is long.
